VIDEO: Mayor Ansonia, Dave Cassetti promote free “ROCK THE VALLEY” festival
Ansonia – Mayor Dave Cassetti jumps on his bicycle in this video promo for ROCK THE VALLEY (video attached AND in this link), a free rock festival coming to Ansonia’s Nolan Field on Saturday, August 24th.
This year’s event, presented by the Cities of Ansonia and Seymour, will be headlined by XTREME QUEEN: THE LEGACY OF FREDDIE MERCURY, performing a down-to-the-details recreation of QUEEN’s famous 1985 Live Aid Festival performance.
XTREME QUEEN’s set will be capped off by a spectacular fireworks display launched from the top of Fountain Lake, which overlooks Nolan Field.
ROCK THE VALLEY 2024 will also spotlight legendary Metal Blade recording artists like LORD. This traditional heavy metal band, founded and based in Stamford, Connecticut, is known for recording three cult classic albums in the 1980s, including the renowned power metal masterpiece MASTER CONTROL (1988). LIEGE LORD has just returned from their headlining performance at Germany’s massive two-day metal festival KEEP IT TRUE XXIV; their line-up includes singer JOE COMEAU, who has also fronted metal acts ANNIHILATOR and OVERKILL.
The event will also include IRON MAIDEN tribute act SANCTUARY; 80’s sunset strip rockers XYZ REVISITED (led guitarist and Seymour business owner “Guitar Fixer Bob” Pieper); female fronted BLACK SABBATH/OZZY/DIO tribute act LADY EVIL; and Valley original thrashers HARD MARCH.
Guests to ROCK THE VALLEY can expect a variety of food and craft vendors and an early-bird opportunity to take photos with metal monsters like “Eddie” and the Grim Reaper starting at noon.
“Once again, we are proving that the Valley rocks harder than any place in Connecticut,” Mayor Cassetti said.
