Philadelphia, PA: State Representative for District 197 of this city, Danilo Burgos, stated that the historic visit of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris this Sunday to Philadelphia strengthens the party’s chances of winning in the November 5 elections in Pennsylvania. «Our candidate connected with the community this weekend in Philadelphia and was able to meet face-to-face with voters, which guarantees her victory in the crucial state of Pennsylvania,» said Burgos.

«We should not wake up the day after the elections and regret what we could have done in these next nine days,» Harris asserted during a large political rally in Philadelphia. «Philadelphia is a very important part of our path to victory. That’s why I’ve been spending time here, and I feel very optimistic about the enthusiasm. We are focused on the future and on the needs of the American people; unlike Donald Trump, who spends all his time looking in the mirror, focused on himself,» Harris added to reporters.

«Kamala Harris came to the heart of the Latino neighborhood, to Freddy & Tony’s restaurant, an iconic place for Puerto Ricans, where she met with voters in Northeast Philadelphia. She comforted a crying baby and thanked her supporters for their support of her campaign, urging young voters, whom she praised for being ‘rightfully impatient,’ telling the audience that ‘there is too much at stake’ in this campaign,» stated State Representative Danilo Burgos.

Burgos Highlights Kamala’s Promise to Puerto Rico

Danilo Burgos commented that the Puerto Rican community appreciated Kamala Harris’s promise, who stated that as soon as she arrived at the White House, she would establish a plan to promote the development of Puerto Rico. «One very emotional aspect of Sunday’s events was when the Vice President emphasized the importance of the Latino vote; she also committed to a plan to restore Puerto Rico’s electrical system, which was destroyed by the effects of Hurricane Maria,» said Danilo Burgos.

Criticizes Donald Trump for Jokes About Puerto Rico and Racist Remarks

Burgos criticized Donald Trump’s campaign, who held a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. At this event, the Republican candidate made crude and racist insults against migrants and allowed comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to mock Puerto Rico, stating: «I don’t know if you know this, but right now there’s a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.» Hinchcliffe also included lewd and racist comments about Latinos, Jews, and Black people, all key demographics in the elections taking place just nine days away.

Burgos Warns About the Importance of Early Voting in Philadelphia

After leaving the event, Danilo Burgos told local media that all local elected officials are working together to motivate Democratic voters in Philadelphia, a traditional blue stronghold. He highlighted the importance of obtaining as many votes as possible to increase Harris’s chances of defeating Republican candidate Donald Trump. «The turnout needs to be sufficient here to more easily win the rest of the state and compete with rural areas in Pennsylvania,» Burgos warned.

Harris Spent the Entire Day in Philadelphia

The main goal of her all-day campaign stop in Philadelphia was to energize the faithful to cast their votes. Harris’s activities included visits to the Christian Compassion Church, Philly Cuts barbershop, Freddy & Tony’s, and the «Sixth Man» Center of Alan Horwitz. She also visited Hakim’s Bookstore, which specializes in African American history. Mayor Cherelle Parker also spoke at Harris’s rally in Philadelphia on Sunday.
