Small Latino Vehicle Seller Reports Irregularities at IAAI Auction in Bridgeport, PA
Philadelphia, PA: Félix Rojas, a small used car dealer from this city, reported to the editorial team of El Faro Latino that in 2021, he purchased a car at the «IAAI SOLD» auction in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, through AMCO MOTOR, an intermediary, to repair and sell it. However, he could not do so because the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) retained the title and determined that the vehicle could only be used for parts, denying the permit for road use.
According to Rojas’ statement, the «IAAI SOLD» auction, located at 396 E. Schuylkill River Rd, Bridgeport, PA 19405, has not refused to refund the money he invested in the vehicle but has prolonged the process since his purchase on October 29, 2021.
El Faro Latino accessed the vehicle purchase information, detailing that the car was acquired for $8,200. The vehicle was sold at the IAAI auction on October 29, 2021, taken from lot number 31532872. It is a 2014 model, with VIN JH4KC1F54EC001441, and specifies that the condition was «Run and Drive,» with a 3.5L 24-VALVE SOHC VTEC V6 engine and 48,675 miles driven.
«When I bought the vehicle, the title given to me by the auction was a Pennsylvania Salvage Cars title and specified that the condition was ‘Run and Drive.’ However, when I sold that car and the buyer went to register it at PennDOT, the authorities did not allow it and retained the title, claiming it could only be used for parts, not for driving,» Rojas explains.
He narrates that after acquiring the vehicle, he made a series of repairs in which he had to invest about $3,500. According to his complaint, he returned the car to the auction, and since then, he has been unable to recover his money. In contrast, the auction administration has kept him going in circles and postponing the refund.
According to its website description, IAA is a leader in the global vehicle market and offers international buyers the flexibility to participate in online car auctions, either with a registered buyer account or through a broker, as Rojas acquired his vehicle.
