Chu Vásquez Calls on the New York Diaspora to Join Dominicans on the Hill with Adriano Espaillat

New York. The diplomatic delegation of the Dominican Republic in this city, led by Consul General Jesús Vásquez Martínez (Chu), issued a direct call to the Dominican diaspora residing in the Big Apple to actively participate in the annual event “Dominicans on the Hill,” to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
The invitation was made through a note sent to the editorial office of El Faro Latino, in which the consul urges Dominicans in New York to accompany Congressman Adriano Espaillat, representative of New York’s 13th congressional district and president of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus of the United States Congress, at an event that each year brings together the most representative leadership of the Dominican community in the country.
Espaillat, the driving force and host of the gathering, noted that this will be the eighth edition of a conference that has become consolidated as a space for representation, coordination, and visibility of the Dominican diaspora at the national level. This year’s convening places emphasis on the advancement of public policies and opportunities linked to the field of health, with a focus on dialogue and community advocacy in decision-making spaces.

Over the years, “Dominicans on the Hill” has become a platform recognizing the economic, cultural, and social contributions of the Dominican diaspora in the United States. The 2026 edition reaffirms that spirit, combining the discussion of public policies with the celebration of Dominican identity and talent in centers of power and national influence.
In this edition, the event will grant special recognitions to three emblematic figures of Dominican culture, all with impactful careers both within and outside the country. Artist Adalgisa Pantaleón will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her multifaceted career and her legacy as one of the most influential female voices in Dominican culture.

Techy Fatule would be recognized for her impact as a singer, songwriter, actress, and performer, and for her influence on contemporary Dominican music, and José Alberto “El Canario” would be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting his trajectory and his contribution to the promotion of Latin music and Dominican identity on international stages.
“Dominicans on the Hill” will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. The gathering will bring together community leaders, professionals, elected officials, students, and prominent figures from the diaspora to address topics related to culture, music, politics, technology, and entrepreneurship.
As this new edition approaches, the joint call from Dominican political and diplomatic leadership seeks to strengthen the presence of the diaspora in the spaces where public policies are shaped and collective contributions are recognized. “Dominicans on the Hill” once again consolidates itself as a forum for identity affirmation and civic participation, in which the Dominican community reaffirms its ability to influence, organize, and make itself visible at the institutional heart of the United States.
