{"id":10508,"date":"2026-09-10T14:47:56","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T14:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/?p=10508"},"modified":"2026-09-10T15:01:04","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T15:01:04","slug":"raysa-feliz-becomes-a-bridge-for-dominicans-living-in-southern-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/raysa-feliz-becomes-a-bridge-for-dominicans-living-in-southern-france\/","title":{"rendered":"Raysa F\u00e9liz Becomes a Bridge for Dominicans Living in Southern France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TOULON, France.- For many Dominicans living in southern France, reaching a <a data-efl-existing-link=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/dominican-consulate-to-open-new-consular-office-in-the-bronx\/\">consular office<\/a> can mean hours of travel, work permits and expenses that are not always easy to afford.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is where the work of Raysa F\u00e9liz comes in.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Consulate General of the <a data-efl-existing-link=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/1205\/\">Dominican Republic<\/a> in Marseille identifies her as president of the Association DominicanLatinos du Var and honorary consular assistant in Toulon, a role through which she serves as a link between Dominican authorities and compatriots living outside Marseille.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her work is particularly important for people who need to complete document procedures or face a difficulty and cannot easily travel to the consular office.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not merely a position within an association.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Institutional recognition of her work was reflected during a community gathering in Toulon, where Consul General Ana B\u00e1ez publicly highlighted the role F\u00e9liz plays assisting Dominicans in the region and keeping an open channel of communication with the consulate.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Association DominicanLatinos du Var has also served as a meeting point for a community dispersed across different towns in southern France.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August 2025, the organization joined the Dominican Consulate for a community day at Morillon Beach in Toulon. Dominican families gathered around traditional activities, food and social spaces designed to strengthen ties among compatriots.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But behind those gatherings is a less visible function.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While an event may last a few hours, the needs of a migrant community continue throughout the year. Documents, guidance, emergencies and communication with Dominican institutions are part of daily life and require people who can serve as a bridge.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00e9liz occupies precisely that space.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Consulate has also included her among its honorary consular assistants during official activities held in Marseille, alongside community representatives from other French cities such as Lyon and Toulouse.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her career shows a different way of understanding leadership within the diaspora.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It does not necessarily depend on large structures or political office. It begins when someone knows their community, understands its difficulties and decides to become the person others can turn to when they need guidance.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Toulon, far from Santo Domingo and even farther from many of the communities where the Dominicans now living in France were born, Raysa F\u00e9liz has found a simple way to keep the country close.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes that closeness fits into a community activity.
