The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in The Hague identifies him as one of the Dominican community leaders who have joined consular authorities in initiatives to connect with compatriots living in different cities across the Netherlands.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His name appeared, alongside fellow community leader Juan Ozorio, in the \u201cA Little Corner of the <a data-efl-existing-link=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/1205\/\">Dominican Republic<\/a> in the Netherlands\u201d program, an initiative created to visit and support businesses built by Dominicans far from their homeland.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of those visits brought consular and community representatives to Rotterdam, where they visited a restaurant owned by Dominican entrepreneur Carlos Reyes. The idea behind the tour was simple: make the community\u2019s <a data-efl-existing-link=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/small-businesses-in-new-york-report-mixed-economic-outlook\/\">small businesses<\/a> visible and create a closer network among those who have built their lives in the Netherlands.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That work takes place within a diaspora that already carries considerable weight.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Data released by Dominican authorities puts the number of Dominicans living in the Netherlands at <a data-efl-existing-link=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/elfarolatino.com\/en\/tifon-dolphin-golpea-china-y-obliga-a-evacuar-a-mas-de-un-millon-de-personas\/\">more than<\/a> 18,000 and estimates that there are also more than 10,000 Dominican-Dutch families. It is a community that has grown through mixed marriages, new generations, professionals, workers and entrepreneurs.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that setting, the work of community leaders takes on a different dimension.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not always about major speeches. Sometimes it begins by accompanying a business owner, helping connect a family with an institution or bringing together Dominicans who live scattered across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and other cities.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dominican Consulate\u2019s own institutional record notes that in recent years it has organized community gatherings, integration activities and projects aimed at strengthening the cohesion of Dominicans living in the Netherlands.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Francisco Juan Ram\u00edrez is part of that effort.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His story represents a part of the diaspora that almost never makes the front pages: men and women who may not hold public office but help sustain the ties of a community living far from the Dominican Republic.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Netherlands, where thousands of Dominicans have put down roots, that quiet leadership also matters. A diaspora is not built only by those who succeed individually.
