The MTA is replacing mechanisms that allow trains to switch between local and express tracks. The equipment was last replaced in 1997, according to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Service interruptions are scheduled for Oct. 17\u201318, Oct. 24\u201325, Nov. 7\u20139, Nov. 13\u201316 and Nov. 20\u201323. During closures, free shuttle buses will run between Myrtle Avenue\u2013Broadway and Delancey Street\u2013Essex Street to cover part of the affected route and connect riders with other services.<\/p>\n<p>The MTA lists the L line from Myrtle\u2013Wyckoff Avenues and the A and C lines from Broadway Junction as alternatives. Riders leaving Jamaica, Queens, may also consider the E line to reach Manhattan, depending on their destination.<\/p>\n<p>The J line will also have changes on certain weekdays, operating locally between Marcy Avenue and Myrtle Avenue\u2013Broadway.
