DGA Achieves Record Revenue Collection of RD$821,866.07 Million Under the Leadership of Sanz Lovatón

New York: The Director General of Customs (DGA), Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, has achieved a comprehensive transformation of the entity during his tenure, in line with President Luis Abinader’s directives. These advancements have enabled the DGA to collect RD$821,866.07 million in nearly four years, as the official reported in his financial report presented in August.

Sanz Lovatón’s success in revenue collection at the DGA has maintained an upward trajectory, allowing the institution to continue setting records, reaching an average of over RD$660 million per day.

In the first 46 months of his tenure, the DGA, under the leadership of Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, nearly doubled the revenue of the previous four-year period, achieving a historic total of RD$821,866.07 million.

According to an updated report from Customs, the DGA’s collections during the first half of 2024 amounted to RD$115,685.68 million, representing an 8.33% increase compared to the same period in 2023, or RD$8,898.07 million more.

Eduardo Sanz Lovatón’s management has ensured that the Dominican Republic meets 100% of the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) requirements. The country is now the eighth country in Latin America to reach this milestone, which has enhanced the image of President Luis Abinader’s government in the region.

Sanz Lovatón has driven a digital transformation and the automation of all services, placing the DGA at the forefront of the government’s «Zero Bureaucracy» initiative. As a result, the 60 most requested services have been automated, reducing processing time to just seven hours or less. Additionally, 84 new services have been added to the DGA’s website and mobile application.

The DGA has also eliminated chaos at Dominican ports by implementing non-intrusive technology since 2021. This has allowed 96% of containers to be inspected, compared to 40% previously. This advancement has been key to increasing security and controlling the entry of illegal products, resulting in over 4.5 times the amount of ammunition previously confiscated and the confiscation of RD$17,284,528 in illicit goods.
