The Bronx, New York: As a show of support for Dominican small business owners and New York’s vibrant community culture, the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York City, Jesús Antonio Vásquez Martínez (Chú), actively participated this Sunday, June 22, in the traditional Bodegas Fest 2025, organized by the United Bodegueros of America Association (UBA), led by businessman Radhamés Rodríguez.

The festival, held at EPOE Park on Grand Concourse between 192nd Street and Kingsbridge Road, brought together hundreds of families who enjoyed live music, food, art, and children’s activities in a free and welcoming environment for all.

“I took part in Bodegas Fest 2025 in The Bronx, celebrating Bodegueros Day alongside Radhamés Rodríguez, president of UBA. I’m proud of the contributions our bodegas make to the community,” stated Consul Vásquez on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing the vital role bodegueros have played, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the event, the consul continued to promote his “Strategic Plan 2025–2028,” a roadmap to strengthen the connection between the consulate and the Dominican diaspora, while also empowering local entrepreneurs.

The day also featured performances by renowned artists such as DJ Adoni, Sexappeal, Grupo a lo Majao, Eudis “El Invencible,” and Shino Aguakate, with entertainment hosted by Michael Miguel Holguín, a well-known figure in Dominican television. The event was also expected to be attended by prominent political figures, including Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Assembly Members Yudelka Tapia and George Álvarez, and City Council Members Oswald Feliz and Pierina Sánchez.

Bodegas Fest has become a vital platform for recognizing the historic and cultural contributions of bodegas in New York City neighborhoods, highlighting their role as community hubs, sources of support, and symbols of the enduring effort of generations of Dominican immigrants.
