The 2026 Julian A. Taylor Award Ceremony recognized a group of outstanding students for their academic achievements and community involvement. The ceremony’s top honor, a $5,000 scholarship, was presented to Airieonna Richards, a recent graduate of Ansonia High School who completed her studies with a 3.69 grade point average.

Throughout high school, Richards participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including Varsity Soccer, Varsity Tennis, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), the National Honor Society, the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, the Chargers in the Making mentoring program, and the school yearbook staff. She will attend Quinnipiac University this fall to pursue a degree in Radiology.

The committee also presented $100 awards to Preston Poteete, Jewel Lewis, Volf Jean, Woodly Vixama, Amit Wragg, Destiny Taylor, Emily Depass, Lydia Steward, Daniel Perkins, Omarion Wynter, Beatrice Sherman, Xavier Reid, Don’Nijah Reese, Paige Diaz, Sarah Heslop, Kevin Bronson, Aubree Vereen, Evina Steward, Isreal Kalonji, Hendry Lombert, and Aaliyah Marie Ballester.
