- Independent Status
Contributors are independent parties unless a separate written agreement expressly states otherwise.
Submission, review, publication, communication, editorial collaboration, or acceptance of content does not create:
• employment
• partnership
• joint venture
• fiduciary relationship
• agency relationship
• continuing contractual engagement
• entitlement to future assignments
- Editorial Independence
El Faro Latino retains full editorial independence and discretion over all published materials.
Contributor viewpoints do not represent the official editorial position of El Faro Latino Media Group LLC unless expressly designated.
- Contributor Representations and Warranties
By submitting content, contributors represent, warrant, and agree that:
• submitted content is original or lawfully licensed
• all factual assertions have a reasonable factual basis
• content is not knowingly false or materially misleading
• content is not defamatory, unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, abusive, or infringing
• submitted materials do not violate privacy rights, publicity rights, confidentiality obligations, contractual restrictions, court orders, or applicable law
• necessary permissions, consents, releases, licenses, and authorizations have been obtained
• the contributor has legal authority to grant publication rights
• the content does not contain unauthorized confidential material
• the submission does not knowingly create unreasonable legal exposure
- Investigative and Sensitive Reporting
Where submissions involve allegations, public controversies, investigative claims, reputational matters, public officials, corporations, legal disputes, whistleblower material, or sensitive reporting, contributors represent that:
• information was submitted in good faith
• allegations are reasonably supportable
• documentary support exists where represented
• quotations are not knowingly fabricated
• source handling complied with lawful standards
El Faro Latino reserves the right to require supporting documentation.
- Images, Multimedia, and Third-Party Materials
Contributors remain solely responsible for:
• photographs
• graphics
• documents
• videos
• interviews
• audio
• archives
• embedded materials
• licensed assets
Contributors warrant that all required permissions and rights exist.
El Faro Latino may rely on contributor representations without independent verification.
- Grant of License
By submitting content, contributors grant El Faro Latino Media Group LLC a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to:
• publish
• reproduce
• display
• archive
• distribute
• syndicate
• edit
• translate
• adapt
• excerpt
• reformat
• republish
• promote
• license publication distribution
• use across digital, print, social, newsletter, audio, video, mobile, archive, future media, and affiliated publishing environments
Unless separate written agreements provide otherwise, this license survives removal.
- Editorial Control
El Faro Latino retains sole editorial authority.
The organization may:
• edit submissions
• revise language
• shorten content
• change headlines
• restructure content
• fact-check
• request revisions
• reject content
• suspend publication
• remove published material
• add editorial disclaimers
• archive content
• restrict visibility
No contributor approval is required for reasonable editorial modifications.
- No Obligation to Publish
Submission creates no obligation to publish, retain, distribute, continue publishing, or republish any content.
- Compensation
No compensation is owed unless expressly agreed in a separate written agreement.
Publication alone does not create compensation rights.
- Legal Responsibility
Contributors assume continuing legal responsibility for submitted content, including after publication, editing, syndication, republication, archival retention, or removal.
- Indemnification
Contributors agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless El Faro Latino Media Group LLC, its officers, editors, journalists, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and agents against claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from:
• submitted content
• factual inaccuracies
• defamatory allegations
• privacy claims
• intellectual property claims
• licensing failures
• unauthorized quotations
• rights violations
• false representations
• legal noncompliance
• contributor misconduct
This obligation survives termination, removal, or publication.
- Legal Cooperation
Contributors agree to cooperate in good faith with legal review, investigations, claims response, litigation defense, document preservation, and related proceedings involving submitted materials.
- Takedown and Removal
El Faro Latino may remove, restrict, disable, archive, or modify content at any time for:
• legal risk
• editorial reasons
• reputational concerns
• factual disputes
• copyright complaints
• security concerns
• policy violations
No prior notice is required.
- No Employment Benefits
Contributors are not entitled to employment protections, benefits, payroll treatment, insurance, retirement rights, workers’ compensation, or employment classification unless separately documented.
- Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, El Faro Latino Media Group LLC shall not be liable for:
• publication decisions
• editorial changes
• rejection
• delayed publication
• content removal
• republication decisions
• visibility limitations
• reputational disagreement over edits
- Pre-Litigation Notice
Contributors agree to provide written notice of legal disputes before initiating formal proceedings where legally permissible.

Exclusive jurisdiction lies in competent state or federal courts located in Connecticut.
