CALI, Colombia — Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader departed Cali, Colombia, on Friday night for Santo Domingo after concluding his official agenda in the city, where he attended the inauguration ceremony of Abelardo de la Espriella as Colombia’s new president.
During his visit to Cali, President Abinader also held a bilateral meeting with Honduran President Nasry Asfura, who congratulated the Dominican leader on the successful organization of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. Asfura also requested the Dominican Republic’s support and cooperation in sports matters ahead of the next edition of the Games, which will be hosted by Honduras in 2029.

President Abinader was accompanied by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez during his participation in the official inauguration ceremonies and other activities held as part of his visit to Colombia.
