The sister of Deivy Carlos Abreu Quezada, a driver who died after being chased and attacked by a group of motorcyclists last weekend in Santiago, said that no circumstance justifies the killing. Celine Abreu described the act as unacceptable and called for accountability.
She stated that regardless of the different versions circulating about the origin of the conflict, nothing warrants taking a person’s life. “We demand justice and that the full weight of the law be applied, because this is not only a family issue but a matter for the entire country,” she said.

According to her account, multiple explanations have emerged, ranging from a traffic dispute to alleged debts. However, she insisted that neither scenario validates the violence. She added that her brother did not attack anyone and was trying to escape while asking for help.
The Ministerio Público initially indicated that the incident may have started after contact with a motorcycle, though other hypotheses have since surfaced. Authorities reported that seven motorcyclists are under arrest, and prosecutors are requesting pretrial detention as the case proceeds.
