Dominican Arrested in Pennsylvania in Connection With Brooklyn Shooting That Killed Infant

NEW YORK — Dominican national Matthew Rodríguez, 18, was arrested in Pennsylvania as a suspect in the shooting that killed seven-month-old Kaori Patterson Moore and injured her two-year-old brother in Brooklyn.

Authorities said Rodríguez is believed to have been driving the motorcycle used in the attack, which took place over the weekend at the intersection of Humboldt and Moore streets. The alleged gunman, Amuri Greene, 21, opened fire on a group of adults and children gathered at the location.

After the shooting, the suspects attempted to flee on the motorcycle but crashed into an oncoming vehicle. Greene suffered a fractured leg in the collision, while Rodríguez managed to escape before later being taken into custody in Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors indicated the shooting may be linked to a failed gang-related retaliation, with the child’s father believed to have been the intended target, according to prosecutor Jordan Rossman. Investigators pointed to a conflict between the gang known as MOE and another group connected to Greene, reportedly operating out of the Marcy Houses complex.

Joseph Kenny stated that the case remains under investigation and noted that the child’s father may have ties to members of the Money Over Everything gang.
