The Dominican consul in New York City, Chu Vásquez, described as positive the recent measure announced by the government of the Dominican Republic to channel consular revenues into the Treasury Single Account, as part of efforts to strengthen a more transparent and organized foreign service.
Vásquez said the policy, implemented through the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, represents a significant step forward in transparency, efficiency, and uniformity in the management of public funds. He noted that the system reinforces administrative best practices and institutional oversight mechanisms.

The consul added that the reform aligns with modernization policies promoted by President Luis Abinader, aimed at strengthening state institutions and implementing long-discussed structural changes within public administration.
He also highlighted that the planned expansion of consular offices responds to the sustained growth of the Dominican community abroad, particularly in New York City and other jurisdictions. According to Vásquez, the initiative seeks to improve access to services and ensure more efficient and timely assistance for Dominican citizens living overseas.
