The campaign said the advertisement highlights Avila Chevalier’s work on affordable housing issues and efforts involving families affected by immigration enforcement actions. The commercial includes footage from a joint television appearance with Mamdani, along with remarks from the candidate herself.

In the advertisement, Mamdani describes Avila Chevalier as an advocate for residents impacted by immigration detention and rising living costs. The candidate concludes the message by identifying herself and approving the advertisement.

The launch coincides with a public endorsement from New York State Assemblywoman Phara Souffrant Forrest, who joins a growing list of elected officials, labor organizations and progressive groups that have endorsed Avila Chevalier’s candidacy.

Avila Chevalier is challenging incumbent Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who is seeking another term representing New York’s 13th Congressional District. Both campaigns and their allied organizations have increased advertising and voter outreach efforts as the primary election approaches.

Early voting is scheduled to begin on June 13, while Election Day is set for June 23, 2026.

According to campaign information, Avila Chevalier is a public defense investigator, a member of the United Auto Workers union and a community organizer. Her campaign has focused on issues including housing affordability, immigration and workers’ rights.
