Dominican Consul General in New York Jesús Vásquez Martínez, known as Chu, said the expansion reflects the government’s commitment to bringing Dominican public services closer to the diaspora while continuing to improve the quality and efficiency of consular assistance available to residents within the New York jurisdiction.
The new location will provide several high-demand services, including passport issuance and renewal, Dominican identification cards, powers of attorney, document legalization and community assistance.
The opening is also expected to help reduce congestion at the main consulate in Manhattan while significantly cutting travel time for thousands of Dominicans living in the Bronx and surrounding communities.
Since assuming leadership of the Consulate General in New York in September 2024, Vásquez Martínez has promoted several initiatives aimed at expanding access to consular services and strengthening assistance to Dominican citizens, with an emphasis on maintaining closer ties with the Dominican community in the United States.
The Consulate encouraged residents to follow its official communication channels for additional information regarding operating hours and procedures available at the new Bronx location.
